HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate State Rep. Sara Wojcicki
4Jimenez on her retirement and recognize her years of service to
5the State of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez was sworn in as the State
7Representative for the 99th District on November 20, 2015; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez has lived in the Springfield
9area since she was five; she attended Cathedral Grade School
10and Ursuline Academy; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez graduated from Southern
12Illinois University Edwardsville and the University of
13Illinois at Springfield; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez worked as a reporter for
15KHQA in Quincy and WICS in Springfield before taking a position
16as Deputy Director of Communications for the Illinois State
17Treasurer's office; she worked as press secretary for the
18Illinois House Republican Caucus and Director of
19Intergovernmental Affairs and Program Communications for the
20Illinois State Comptroller's office; she also worked as chief
21of staff to Illinois First Lady Diana Rauner; and

1    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez was elected to a term on the
2Springfield Park District Board in 2011; she was an advocate
3for parks and recreation opportunities in Springfield while
4collaborating with other trustees during tough economic times;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez fought for a more efficient,
7transparent, and accountable state government that better
8serves Illinois families; she introduced initiatives to
9prohibit automatic cost of living raises for elected officials
10and to prohibit collection of session-day mileage and per diem
11payments for legislators residing in Sangamon County; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez served as the House
13Republican Spokesperson on the House Discrimination and Sexual
14Harassment Task Force and worked with colleagues across the
15aisle to pass bipartisan reforms strengthening harassment and
16discrimination protections in State and local government; and
 
17    WHEREAS, With bringing in good jobs for families in her
18district as a top priority, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez, spearheaded
19passage of a new law that creates a Capitol/Springfield area
20hiring preference for State positions that could return
21hundreds of State jobs to the Sangamon County area; and

1    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez worked with local
2constituents to pass new laws that will help families
3statewide, including protecting adult children's visitation
4with elderly parents and expanding successful veteran courts;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez partnered with members of
7the community to craft innovative local solutions, including
8partnering with Computer Banc to repurpose used State computer
9equipment for schools and daycare facilities and spearheading a
10penny drive with local school children to purchase an Abraham
11Lincoln artifact and return it to Illinois for the State's
12bicentennial; and
 
13    WHEREAS, On the occasion of Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez's
14retirement from the Illinois House of Representatives her
15colleagues wish to recognize and thank her for her public
16service and for her continued work to make her community and
17the State of Illinois a better place to live, work, and raise a
18family; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21congratulate State Rep. Sara Wojcicki Jimenez on her
22retirement, recognize her years of service to the State of
23Illinois, and thank her for her work on behalf of the people of

1the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That we wish Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez, her husband,
3Jose Carlos, and their twin sons, Charlie and Augie, the very
4best as they begin a new chapter; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez and her family as a symbol
7of our esteem and well wishes.
