HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Adrian Guerrero on the
4occasion of his promotion to the position of Senior Director of
5Network Development for the Western Region of the Union Pacific
6Railroad, the first Latino to hold this position; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Adrian Guerrero earned his Bachelor of Arts from
8DePaul University in 2004 and his Juris Doctorate from the
9Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2009; he was admitted to the
10Illinois Bar in 2010; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Adrian Guerrero has served as a public affairs
12professional for over 13 years with experience in public
13affairs management, legislative advocacy, and public-private
14projects in the public and private sectors; prior to his
15promotion, he served as the Director of Public Affairs for the
16Union Pacific Railroad, where he directed strategic external
17communications, public and government affairs, community
18relations, and corporate philanthropy in the States of Illinois
19and Wisconsin on behalf of North America's largest freight
20railroad; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Prior to his work for the Union Pacific, Adrian
22Guerrero served as Assistant Commissioner of Governmental

1Affairs for the Chicago Department of Aviation, where he
2managed and directed the department's state and local lobbying
3agendas, proposed and developed strategies and responses to
4legislation and regulatory initiatives, and coordinated and
5managed grant agreements for capital funding; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Prior to his work for the Chicago Department of
7Aviation, Adrian Guerrero cultivated his public affairs career
8in the Office of the Mayor, where he communicated the Mayor's
9agenda to the Chicago City Council and other officials, the
10Chicago Park District, where he promoted the district's
11priorities across federal, state, and local government, and the
12Illinois State Senate President's Office, where he researched
13and analyzed legislation and organized committee hearings; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Adrian Guerrero serves as the Chairman of the
15Illinois Railroad Association and is the first Latino to serve
16in this position; he is a Co-Chair of the CREATE Advocacy
17Committee, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's
18Freight Committee, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce's
19Council on Logistics and Transportation; he is a member of the
20boards of the Will County Center for Economic Development, the
21Illinois Brownfields Redevelopment & Intermodal Promotion Act,
22the Metropolitan Planning Council's Freight and Regional
23Planning & Investment Committees, the Catholic Charities of the
24Archdiocese of Chicago, and the President's Leadership Council

1of Loyola Academy; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Adrian Guerrero was granted the Community
3Leadership Award by Centro Romero in June of 2016 and the Most
4Valuable Partner Award by Urban Initiatives in June of 2018;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Adrian Guerrero possesses a pleasant and
7compassionate demeanor which will be deeply missed and
8difficult to replace; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11congratulate Adrian Guerrero on his promotion and we wish him
12continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Adrian Guerrero as a symbol of our esteem and
16respect.
