HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rosetta
4"Aunt Rose" Ellis Hopson of Chicago, who passed away on
5September 7, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was born in Yazoo County,
7Mississippi to Bennie and Josie Ellis; she was raised in
8Chicago and committed to her faith while attending Jericho
9Missionary Baptist Church; she attended Brainard Elementary,
10Crane Technical High School, and Chicago City Junior College;
11as a young adult, she attended the King David Missionary
12Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher;
13she married Carl Hopson in 1966; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson retired from the State of Illinois
15Department of Human Services after 33 years of service; as a
16caseworker, she provided relief to the poor, and she assisted
17fellow co-workers as a union steward; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was committed to serving others
19through work, ministry, and home life; she enjoyed quilting,
20bowling, gardening, traveling, visiting the sick, dining, and
21reading; and

1    WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was preceded in death by her
2husband, Carl, her son Benji, and her sister, Christine Elicke;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson is survived by her daughters,
5Angela Carlise and Crystal JoEllen; her brothers-in-law,
6Ronald (Grace) Elicke, C.W. Hopson, Roy (Cleo) Hopson, and
7Emmett Hopson; her niece, Sharon Joyce Denise Elicke; her
8nephew, James Steven Elicke; her great-nieces and
9great-nephews; her godson, Quincy Johnson; her goddaughter,
10Brendia McGee; and her many relatives and dear friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn the passing of Rosetta "Aunt Rose" Ellis Hopson and
15extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
16who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Rosetta Hopson as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
