HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the life of Michael "Mike"
4Grenda and his dedication to the North Chicago community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Grenda graduated from Illinois State
6University in 1999 and began his educational career in 2000 as
7an English teacher; he was in the classroom for five years
8until he finished his master's degree in educational leadership
9and organizational change and became the dean of students and
10head football coach at North Chicago High School; he then
11became the principal of Greenbay Elementary School; he
12transferred to the Neal Math and Science Academy for eight
13years, and now currently serves as principal of the A.J.
14Katzenmaier Academy where he continues to build a culture and
15climate for learning and pushes both staff and cadets to hold
16themselves to high expectations, as he does for himself; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Mike Grenda served as football coach, speech
18coach, conditioning coach, track coach, and basketball
19announcer at North Chicago Community High School; in 2005, he
20became the only coach in North Chicago history to take a team
21to the state playoffs; he holds the record for most wins in a
22single season as a coach; and

1    WHEREAS, Mike Grenda phrase's "Who's House?!... Our
2House!" is now a part of the North Chicago High School
3community; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mike Grenda's plans include leading North Chicago
5back to the premier educational status that the students
6deserve, and staying loyal to both the district and families he
7has been serving for the last nineteen years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mike Grenda has been a positive role model and has
9touched many lives; he never passes up an opportunity to serve
10students; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13recognize the life of Michael "Mike" Grenda and his dedication
14to the North Chicago community, and we wish him many more
15wonderful years; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That as suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Mike Grenda as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
