HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Wilson
4Frost of Chicago, who passed away on May 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilson Frost was born in Cairo on December 27,
61925 and earned his bachelor's degree from Fisk University in
71950; he earned his Juris Doctor in 1958 from the Chicago-Kent
8College of Law; he later studied at DePaul University's
9Lawyer's Institute; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wilson Frost was hired by the Postal
11Transportation Service as a clerk, where he remained until
121952; he then joined Provident Hospital as a statistician;
13after earning his law degree, he joined the firm of Frost,
14Sherard, Howse & Coleman, where he continued on as a partner
15until 1973; he left to form Meyer & Frost, which later became
16Frost & Greenblatt, where he remained until his retirement in
171998; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wilson Frost became active in Chicago politics in
191967 when he won election as alderman of the 21st Ward; in
201971, he was elected alderman of the 34th Ward, and in 1976, he
21served as the president pro tem of the City Council; he served
22the city until retiring in 1998 with the title of commissioner

1of the Cook County Board of Tax Appeals; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wilson Frost was honored by many organizations,
3including the Original Forty Club, which awarded him the Man of
4the Year Award in 1974, and the Illinois House of
5Representatives, which issued a resolution praising his work
6upon his retirement; he also actively served various
7organizations, including the John Marshall School of Law and
8the Mercy Hospital Medical Center; he served as vice president
9of the City Club of Chicago; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wilson Frost and his wife, Gloria, had four
11children; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn the passing of Wilson Frost, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Wilson Frost as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
