HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Detective John Atteberry
4on the occasion of his retirement from the Bloomington Police
5Department after 22 years of service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Detective Atteberry was hired by the Bloomington
7Police Department in Bloomington, Illinois on January 6, 1997;
8he started in the Patrol Division, where he worked the second
9and third shifts for four years; in January 2001, he was moved
10into the Vice Narcotics United, where he worked felony-level
11drug cases; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Detective Atteberry was deputized with the United
13States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and he worked
14jointly with the DEA, the Bloomington Police Department, and
15the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
16(ATF) on the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force
17(OCDETF); his work there led to several arrests where state and
18federal charges were filed; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In 2007, Detective Atteberry joined the Criminal
20Investigation Division of the Bloomington Police Department,
21and he has led or participated in a variety of high-level
22cases, from aggravated battery to homicide; and

1    WHEREAS, Detective Atteberry will enjoy his retirement
2with his wife, Tracy, and his children, Marissa and Nicholas;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6congratulate Detective John Atteberry on his retirement from
7the Bloomington Police Department, and we thank him for his
8service to the State of Illinois; we wish him the best in his
9future endeavors; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Detective Atteberry as an expression of our esteem
12and respect..
