HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Montgomery Police Chief
4Daniel Meyers on the occasion of his retirement on April 30,
52018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers was born on December 10, 1960; he
7attended Aurora Central Catholic High School, Waubonsee
8Community College, and Aurora University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers joined the Montgomery Police
10Department on February 11, 1985; he has served as an officer,
11field training officer, detective, sergeant, and deputy chief
12prior to becoming Chief of Police in November of 2010; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers has attended over 1,000 additional
14hours of special police training seminars; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In 2007, Chief Meyers was nominated by FBI officer
16Paul Bock for the "Stars of Distinction" award by the Chicago
17Crime Commission for his assistance in "Operation First Degree
18Burn"; in December of 2008, he graduated from the prestigious
19FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers is currently president of the

1Montgomery Police Pension Board, secretary of the Kane County
2Chiefs of Police Association, and is a member of the FBI
3National Academy Associates, International Chiefs of Police;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers has been has been nominated six times
6for the "Officer of the Year" award; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers enjoys softball and golf; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Meyers is an outstanding example of a life
9well-lived as a true public servant; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12congratulate Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers on his
13retirement, and we commend and applaud him on a successful
14career filled with hard work, passion, and the constant drive
15to help his community and State; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Chief Meyers as a symbol of our respect and
18esteem.
