HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Laudato Si', the groundbreaking encyclical by
3Pope Francis written in 2015, is devoted to the care of our
4common home and offers important teachings for all Illinoisans
5to read and reflect upon as policies are developed to address
6serious challenges in our environment; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The encyclical notes that with these challenges,
8we are faced with one crisis that is both social and
9environmental; solutions to this crisis require an integrated
10approach that focuses on both the person and nature; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Laudato Si' reminds all of us, including
12government leaders, of our moral responsibility to care for our
13common home; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the
16members of the General Assembly come together in a bipartisan
17manner to discuss and develop just policies for the State of
18Illinois that consider both our environmental and social
19systems in addressing the various issues that affect our common
20home.
