HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Peter G. Polmen on the
4occasion of his 100th birthday on April 12, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Polmen was born on April 12, 1918 and grew
6up in the Hull House neighborhood in Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Peter Polmen served with the United States Army
8Air Force 451st Bombardment Group as a B-24 tail gunner and
9Staff Sergeant in Foggia, Italy during World War II; he was
10awarded a Purple Heart, an Air Medal with two Clusters, a
11European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, an American
12Campaign Medal, a World War II medal, and a Good Conduct Medal;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Following his military service, Peter Polmen
15served the State of Illinois with the Department of
16Transportation; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Over the course of his 100 years, Peter Polmen has
18memories that include the original names of city streets, horse
19and buggies, the Chicago World's Fair, the Great Depression,
20the Aragon, and much more; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3congratulate Peter G. Polmen on his 100th birthday, and we
4thank him for his service to our country and to our State; and
5be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Peter Polmen as a symbol of our respect and
8esteem.
