| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Robert F. Martwick on his |
| 4 | | 50 years of community service and his role as Norwood Park |
| 5 | | Township Democratic Committeeman; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick was born in Chicago on August 20, |
| 7 | | 1937; he attended St. Philips High School, the University of |
| 8 | | Detroit, and Loyola University; he graduated from DePaul |
| 9 | | College of Law; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick worked as an adjunct professor and |
| 11 | | tutored former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and former |
| 12 | | Illinois State Senator Howard Carroll; he also served as an |
| 13 | | Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's |
| 14 | | Attorney's Office, where he and his trial partner tried 59 |
| 15 | | felony jury trials; he was a candidate for Illinois State |
| 16 | | Representative in 1968; in 1973, he founded the Law Offices of |
| 17 | | Finkel & Martwick with his partner, Norman Finkel, with whom he |
| 18 | | continues to practice with today; he also served as the |
| 19 | | Norridge Village prosecutor; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick was selected to serve as Township |
| 21 | | Committeeman by the Norwood Park Township Democratic |
| 22 | | Organization on July 30, 1969, a position he will hold through |
|

| 1 | | the upcoming election; he was a delegate to the 1976 Democratic |
| 2 | | National Convention; he managed the campaigns for his brother, |
| 3 | | Richard J. Martwick, who served as Cook County Regional |
| 4 | | Superintendent of Education from 1970 until 1994; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick is active in many organizations, |
| 6 | | including the Chicago Advocates Society, the National |
| 7 | | Advocates Society, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois |
| 8 | | State Bar Association, the Illinois Supreme Court's Committee |
| 9 | | on Character and Fitness, and the Ridgewood High School Board; |
| 10 | | he was President of the National Advocates Society from 1987 |
| 11 | | until 1988 and President of the Ridgemoor Country Club from |
| 12 | | 1993 until 1996; he was Secretary of the Cook County Democratic |
| 13 | | Party from 1996 until 2018; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick has received many awards and |
| 15 | | recognitions for his service; he was the National Advocates |
| 16 | | Society's Man of the Year in 1989; he also received the |
| 17 | | Copernican Award for his service to the Polish American |
| 18 | | Community; in 2016, the Cook County Democratic Party recognized |
| 19 | | him as an Outstanding Leadership Honoree; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Martwick has been married to his wife, |
| 21 | | Gloria, for 57 years; together, they have five children, |
| 22 | | Candace, Cathy, Rob, Kristen, and Holly; they are grandparents |
| 23 | | to 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; therefore, |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 3 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 4 | | congratulate Robert F. Martwick on his 50 years of community |
| 5 | | service and we recognize his role as Norwood Park Township |
| 6 | | Democratic Committeeman; we wish him the best in his future |
| 7 | | endeavors; and be it further

| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 9 | | presented to Robert Martwick as an expression of our esteem and |
