HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Delvano
4LaValle Jones, who passed away on January 12, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was born in Chicago to Arthur A.
6Jones and Jean Overton-Jones on November 10, 1953; he attended
7Corkery Elementary School and graduated from Austin High School
8in 1972; he later attended Bradley University, where he was a
9member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Epsilon Kappa
10Chapter; he regaled his fellow students with his unique wit,
11friendliness, and insight; anyone who knew him was very
12familiar with his love of conversation; he earned his Bachelor
13of Science in Business from Bradley in 1976; he married Laura
14Elizabeth Johnson at the Christ Universal Temple in 1986; and
 
15    WHEREAS, After graduation, Delvano Jones began a
16successful sales career with several Fortune 500 companies,
17including American Tobacco Company, Pitney Bowes, Xerox, and
18World Pay Corporation; there is no doubt that his skills in
19communication contributed to his successful sales and
20marketing career; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was a lifelong member of Christ
22Universal Temple; his strong commitment to his faith was

1apparent in his love for his church; he participated in
2spiritual retreats and was a proud member of the Hospitality
3Committee; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was a devoted husband, father,
5brother, and friend; he enjoyed grilling, golfing, sports,
6FitBits, and keeping up with the latest television shows,
7movies, and audio and visual electronics; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was preceded in death by his
9parents; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Delvano Jones is survived by his loving wife and
11best friend, Laura; his son, Delvano LaValle II; his daughter,
12Marielle Nicole; his sisters, Charmine Minette Jones-Sprauve
13(Christopher), Jerilyn Frazier (Daniel); his brother, Leron
14Jones; his brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnson and Harold Johnson II
15(Marilyn); his sister-in-law, Maria Johnson; and his many
16nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19mourn the passing of Delvano LaValle Jones and extend our
20sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
21and loved him; and be it further
