HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Teresa
4Rendon Gonzalez, of Ixcamilpa de Guerrero, Puebla, Mexico, who
5passed away on March 13, 2017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was born on May 19, 1929 and
7raised in Ixcamilpa de Guerrero, Puebla, Mexico; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez married Crisologo Torres
9Escamilla and had 11 children, Antonio Torres, Celia Torres,
10Pedro Torres, Tomas Torres, Domitila Torres, Manuel Torres,
11Fulgencio Torres, Leoncio Torres, Alvaro Torres, Reyna Torres,
12and Crisologo Torres; and
 
13    WHEREAS, All of Teresa Gonzalez's children immigrated to
14the State of Illinois, where they have settled to live and work
15and contribute to the rich development and culture of the City
16of Chicago; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez had a humble life, where she
18raised chickens, pigs, turkeys, and other farm animals; she was
19respected, valued, and loved by all those who knew her in her
20community; and

1    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was the matriarch of the family,
2an independent person who would perform any task and inspired
3her family to follow her example; she loved her family with a
4gentle, yet stern consistency which only she possessed; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The passing of Teresa Gonzalez, a community leader
6and matriarch of the Torres family, has caused a deep void and
7sadness in her community; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez suffered much physical pain yet
9she lived her life with grace; she touched many lives with her
10examples of love, acceptance, and immense pride as a Mexican
11woman; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez left a strong legacy for the State
13of Illinois with 37 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and
1413 great-great-grandchildren; the majority of whom live and
15work in the Land of Lincoln; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was much loved and respected by
17her family and friends, both in the United States and around
18the world; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez's true legacy lies in the profound
20effect she had on the countless men and women she raised and
21taught throughout her life; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3honor the memory of Teresa Rendon Gonzalez and celebrate her
4living legacy; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Teresa Gonzalez as a symbol of our
7deepest sympathy.
