HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Greywater is gently used water from one's
3bathroom, sinks, showers, tubs, and washing machines; it may
4contain traces of dirt, food, grease, hair, and certain
5household cleaning products; it is not water that has come into
6contact with feces; it may look "dirty", but it is a safe, even
7beneficial source of irrigation water; and
 
8    WHEREAS, If greywater is released into rivers, lakes, or
9estuaries, it becomes a pollutant, but to plants, it is a
10valuable fertilizer; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Reusing greywater saves water and money on one's
12water bill; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Reusing greywater keeps it out of the sewer or
14septic system, thereby reducing the chance that it will pollute
15local bodies of water; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Reusing greywater is a way to increase the
17productivity of sustainable backyard ecosystems that produce
18food, clean water, and shelter wildlife; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE

1CONCURRING HEREIN, that we urge the State of Illinois to study
2the concept of greywater reclamation and implement a plan by
3the year 2025.
