Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that, before making any changes to its policy on criminal history records checks or other database checks or its policy on reporting and addressing sexual abuse or sexual assault by a member of school personnel, the school board must conduct a public hearing with an opportunity for public input. Requires the school board to advertise the public hearing, at a minimum, on its publicly available Internet website, in newspapers of general circulation within the district, and on social media posts. Requires the State Board of Education to approve the content and scope of the advertisements and to ensure that each hearing has sufficient opportunities for public input. Effective immediately.

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 34-18.60 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 34-18.60. Sexual abuse or sexual assault; policy |
| 8 | | changes. Before making any changes to its policy on criminal |
| 9 | | history records checks or other database checks under Section |
| 10 | | 34-18.5 of this Code or its policy on reporting and addressing |
| 11 | | sexual abuse or sexual assault by a member of school personnel, |
| 12 | | the board must conduct a public hearing with an opportunity for |
| 13 | | public input. The board must advertise the public hearing, at a |
| 14 | | minimum, on its publicly available Internet website, in |
| 15 | | newspapers of general circulation within the district, and on |
| 16 | | social media posts. The State Board must approve the content |
| 17 | | and scope of the advertisements and must ensure that each |
| 18 | | hearing has sufficient opportunities for public input.
