SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 605/7  from Ch. 8, par. 307

    Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Provides that, as part of its annual renewal application, an animal shelter or animal control facility must report to the Department of Agriculture specific information concerning dogs and cats received from another state or country and specific information concerning disposition and manner of transfer of all dogs and cats that leave its facilities. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Animal Welfare Act is amended by changing
5Section 7 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 605/7)  (from Ch. 8, par. 307)
7    Sec. 7. (a) Applications for renewal licenses shall be made
8to the Department, shall be in writing on forms prescribed by
9the Department, shall contain such information as will enable
10the Department to determine if the applicant is qualified to
11continue to hold a license and shall be accompanied by the
12required fee, which shall not be returnable.
13    (b) As part of its annual renewal application, an animal
14shelter or animal control facility must report all of the
15following information to the Department concerning dogs and
16cats received from another state or another country:
17        (1) the number of dogs and cats received from
18    out-of-state shelters or animal control facilities;
19        (2) the states where the dogs and cats originated;
20        (3) the number of dogs and cats imported from out of
21    the country; and
22        (4) the country of origin for imported dogs and cats.
23    (c) As part of its annual renewal application, an animal

1shelter or animal control facility must report all the
2following information to the Department concerning disposition
3and manner of transfer of all dogs and cats that leave its
4facilities:
5        (1) the number of dogs or cats returned to owners;
6        (2) the number of dogs or cats placed;
7        (3) the number of dogs or cats euthanized for medical
8    or behavioral issues;
9        (4) the number of dogs or cats euthanized at the
10    owner's request;
11        (5) the number of dogs or cats euthanized due to space
12    limitations;
13        (6) the number of dogs or cats that died in custody
14    with cause noted, if known;
15        (7) if transferred to another animal shelter or animal
16    control facility within the State, the name and location of
17    that facility;
18        (8) if transferred to an out-of-state animal shelter or
19    facility, the name and location of the out-of-state animal
20    shelter or facility; and
21        (9) the number of animals missing, stolen, or escaped.

23    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24becoming law.
