SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/3-699.19 new
625 ILCS 5/3-699.20 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for the issuance of Combat Action Ribbon or Combat Action Badge license plates. Provides that the Secretary of State may allow either plate to be issued as a vanity plate or personalized plate. Provides that neither plate is required to designate "Land of Lincoln" on the plate. Provides that the Secretary shall approve and prescribe stickers or decals. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Sections 3-699.19 and 3-699.20 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-699.19 new)
7    Sec. 3-699.19. Combat Action Ribbon license plates.
8    (a) The Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable
9fees and applications made in the form prescribed by the
10Secretary, may issue special registration plates designated as
11Combat Action Ribbon plates. The special plates issued under
12this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
13first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
14division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates under this
15Section shall expire according to the multi-year procedure
16established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
17    (b) The plates shall display the Combat Action Ribbon. In
18all other respects, the design and color of the special plates
19shall be wholly within the discretion of the Secretary.
20Appropriate documentation, as determined by the Secretary,
21shall accompany each application. The Secretary may, in his or
22her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as vanity plates
23or personalized in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this

2Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of Section 3-412 of
3this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the eligibility
4requirements and, in his or her discretion, shall approve and
5prescribe stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412.
