110 ILCS 805/3-29.11 new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that students in grades 11 and 12 of East St. Louis School District 189 may take courses at Southwestern Illinois College for dual credit at no cost to the student. Amends the Public Community College Act to make conforming changes.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
522-83 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/22-83 new)
7    Sec. 22-83. Southwestern Illinois College dual credit
8program. Notwithstanding any provisions of law to the contrary,
9students in grades 11 and 12 of East St. Louis School District
10189 may take courses at Southwestern Illinois College for dual
11credit at no cost to the student.
 
12    Section 10. The Public Community College Act is amended by
13adding Section 3-29.11 as follows:
 
14    (110 ILCS 805/3-29.11 new)
15    Sec. 3-29.11. Southwestern Illinois College dual credit
16program. Notwithstanding any provisions of this Act to the
17contrary, Southwestern Illinois College shall allow students
18in grades 11 and 12 of East St. Louis School District 189 to
19take classes at the College for dual credit at no cost to the
20student.
