AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3203

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3203 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
53-6041 as follows:
 
6    (55 ILCS 5/3-6041 new)
7    Sec. 3-6041. Reporting sheriff's office discipline. Every
8sheriff's office shall report on an annual basis to the General
9Assembly information regarding complaints filed by a member of
10the public against a sheriff, deputy, or other county officer
11in his or her official capacity. The annual report shall
12include, but not be limited to, the following information:
13        (1) information regarding complaints submitted against
14    officers of the office;
15        (2) the results of completed investigations or the
16    status of any ongoing investigation as a result of a filed

1    complaint;
2        (3) the nature of any disciplinary action taken; and
3        (4) an overall accounting of the number of complaints
4    filed within the office and the number of times discipline
5    was imposed against officers within a reporting period.
 
6    Section 10. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
7adding Section 10-1-18.1-5 as follows:
 
8    (65 ILCS 5/10-1-18.1-5 new)
9    Sec. 10-1-18.1-5. Reporting police discipline. Every
10municipal police department shall report on an annual basis to
11the General Assembly information regarding complaints filed by
12a member of the public against a municipal police officer in
13his or her official capacity. The annual report shall include,
14but not be limited to, the following information:
15        (1) information regarding complaints submitted against
16    officers of the department;
17        (2) the results of completed investigations and the
18    status of any ongoing investigation as a result of a filed
19    complaint;
20        (3) the nature of any disciplinary action taken; and
21        (4) an overall accounting of the number of complaints
22    filed within each municipal police department and the
23    number of times discipline was imposed against an officer
24    within a reporting period.".
