SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
520 ILCS 5/2.5

    Amends the Wildlife Code. Provides that any person may use a crossbow to take wildlife during the appropriate archery season. Repeals crossbow provisions limiting the use of crossbows to specified conditions, together with a related definition. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning wildlife.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Wildlife Code is amended by changing Section
52.5 as follows:
 
6    (520 ILCS 5/2.5)
7    Sec. 2.5. Crossbow conditions.
8    (a) (Blank). A person may use a crossbow if one or more of
9the following conditions are met:
10        (1) the user is a person age 62 and older;
11        (2) the user is a person with a disability to whom the
12    Director has issued a permit to use a crossbow, as provided
13    by administrative rule; or
14        (3) the date of using the crossbow is during the period
15    of the second Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday
16    through the last day of the archery deer hunting season
17    (both inclusive) set annually by the Director.
18    (b) (Blank). As used in this Section, "person with a
19disability" means a person who has a physical impairment due to
20injury or disease, congenital or acquired, which renders the
21person so severely disabled as to be unable to use a longbow,
22recurve bow, or compound bow. Permits must be issued only after
23the receipt of a physician's statement confirming the applicant

2    (c) Any person may use a crossbow to take wildlife during
3the appropriate archery season.
