    Amends the Radon Industry Licensing Act. Abolishes the Radon-Resistant Building Codes Task Force. Make a corresponding change in the Radon Resistant Construction Act.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Radon Resistant Construction Act is amended
5by changing Section 15 as follows:
 
6    (420 ILCS 52/15)
7    Sec. 15. Definitions. As used in this Act, unless the
8context requires otherwise:
9    "Active mitigation system", also known as "active soil
10depressurization" or "ASD", means a family of radon mitigation
11systems involving mechanically driven soil depressurization,
12including sub-slab depressurization (SSD), drain tile
13depressurization (DTD), block wall depressurization (BWD), and
14sub-membrane depressurization (SMD).
15    "Agency" means the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
16    "New residential construction" means any original
17construction of a single-family home or a dwelling containing 2
18or fewer apartments, condominiums, or town houses.
19    "Passive new construction pipe" means a pipe installed in
20new construction that relies solely on the convective flow of
21air upward for soil gas depressurization and may consist of
22multiple pipes routed through conditioned space from below the
23foundation to above the roof.

1    "Radon" means a gaseous radioactive decay product of
2uranium or thorium.
3    "Radon contractor" means a person licensed in accordance
4with the Radon Industry Licensing Act to perform radon or radon
5progeny mitigation or to perform measurements of radon or radon
6progeny in an indoor atmosphere.
7    "Radon resistant construction" means the installation of
8passive new construction pipe during new residential
9construction.
10    "Residential building code" means an ordinance,
11resolution, or law that establishes standards applicable to new
12residential construction.
13    "Residential building contractor" means any individual,
14corporation, or partnership that constructs new residential
15construction.
16    "Task Force on Radon-Resistant Building Codes" means the
17Task Force on Radon-Resistant Building Codes as authorized by
18the Radon Industry Licensing Act.
