SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 465/15 new

    Amends the Flag Display Act. Provides that for the period of time spanning December 3, 2017 through December 31, 2018, a United States flag bearing 21 stars shall be flown from the flag pole of the Illinois State Capitol Building in celebration of Illinois' bicentennial as the 21st state to join the Union. Provides that the flag used shall conform to certain specified requirements. Repeals the Section on January 1, 2019. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Flag Display Act is amended by adding
5Section 15 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 465/15 new)
7    Sec. 15. Bicentennial 21-star United States flag.
8Notwithstanding any provisions of this Act to the contrary, for
9the period of time spanning December 3, 2017 through December
1031, 2018, a United States flag bearing 21 stars shall be flown
11from the flag pole of the Illinois State Capitol Building in
12celebration of Illinois' bicentennial as the 21st state to join
13the Union. Such flag shall conform to the requirements set
14forth in Section 5 of the Official United States Flag Act, and
15any other applicable requirements under this Act concerning the
16respectful care and display of a United States flag. This
17Section is repealed January 1, 2019.
 
18    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19becoming law.
