SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Bedbugs Disclosure to Employees Act. Requires an employer to notify employees if a person certified under the Structural Pest Control Act has determined the presence of bedbugs at the place of employment. Provides that such notification shall be made electronically via email or, if notice by email is not possible, the employer shall issue a written notification to each employee or post a written notification in a conspicuous place or places used or reserved for employee notices.

1    AN ACT concerning employment.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Bedbugs Disclosure to Employees Act.
 
6    Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
7    "Employee" means any individual permitted to work by an
8employer.
9    "Employer" means an individual, partnership, corporation,
10association, business, trust, person, or entity for whom
11employees are gainfully employed in Illinois and includes the
12State of Illinois, any State officer, department, or agency,
13any unit of local government, and any school district.
 
14    Section 10. Disclosure. An employer shall notify employees
15if a person certified under the Structural Pest Control Act has
16determined the presence of bedbugs at the place of employment.
17Such notification shall be made electronically via email. If
18notice by email is not possible, then the employer shall issue
19a written notification to each employee or, if such written
20notification is too costly, post a written notification in a
21conspicuous place or places used or reserved for employee
22notices.
