SECTION 520.20 DEFINITIONS


 

Section 520.20   Definitions

 

The following are terms frequently appearing in this Part:

 

            "Act" – The Choke-Saving Methods Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 56½, pars 601 et seq.) [410 ILCS 10].

 

            "Activate EMS System" – Contact the emergency medical resource in the community by the most effective method, such as phoning 911, the local fire department or rescue squad.

 

            "Food Service Establishment" – Any fixed or mobile establishment serving food to the public for consumption on the premises.  The term does not include establishments operated on a temporary basis by charitable or non-profit organizations. (Section 2 of the Act)

 

            "Placards" – Posters that depict simple instructions in words and illustrations that are not offensive to restaurant patrons for the emergency care of choking victims.
