Section 4190.408  Certification Approval

Upon receipt of an application for certification as a professional archaeologist, the Agency Archaeologist shall review the information provided and within 30 days after the application receipt make a written recommendation to the Director regarding the approval or denial of the application.  Upon receipt of an application for certification as a professional paleontologist, the Agency Archaeologist shall forward the application to a certified paleontologist in the Agency for review.  If the Agency does not employ a certified paleontologist, then the Agency shall request the assistance of a State agency that does employ a certified paleontologist.  Within 30 days after the application receipt the Agency Archeologist shall make a written recommendation to the Director regarding the approval or denial of the application.  Applicants for certification as professional archaeologists or paleontologists shall be approved at the appropriate level if the Director finds the applicant has provided sufficient documentation and meets the qualifications for certification.
