Section 570.35  Use of .22 Rimfire Rifles by Trappers During Deer Gun Season

 

Licensed trappers in possession of valid Firearm Owners Identification may use .22 rimfire rifles to kill trapped raccoon, opossum, striped skunk, red fox, gray fox, coyote and woodchuck (groundhog) during seasons established by Section 570.20, including portions of such open seasons that coincide with hunting seasons for taking white-tailed deer with guns (17 Ill. Adm. Code 650.10, 660.10 and 680.10).  Use of any other rifle to kill trapped raccoon, opossum, striped skunk, red or gray fox, coyote or woodchuck during gun deer seasons is a Class B misdemeanor (see 520 ILCS 5/2.30).
